Moby single "Pale Horses" out June 23rd NEW ALBUM ‘WAIT FOR ME’ RELEASED JUNE 30, 2009
FIRST SINGLE 'PALE HORSES' RELEASED JUNE 23, 3009
REMIXES FROM: GUI BORATTO, APPARAT, BEN HOO AND JASON BENTLEY

June 2009 sees two new releases from Moby; his new full-length studio album 'Wait For Me' released June 30th, and the first single 'Pale Horses' released June 23rd. Sweetening the 'Pale Horses' single further are remixes from by Gui Boratto, Apparat, Ben Hoo and Jason Bentley .
“I wanted the vocals on this song to sound old and almost conversational,” says Moby. “On ‘Pale Horses’ my friend Amelia is singing; she's holding a $20 microphone, no headphones, just singing it with me holding the lyrics in front of her pointing to the words. She didn’t know the song before she sang it, so her performance has a vulnerable and almost naïve quality. After recording her vocals i thought they still sounded too polished, so I put her vocals on an old 1/8” tape machine and re-recorded them back into the song. I wanted them to sound as if they were recorded 50 years ago instead of in 2008.”
This method is in keeping with the DIY element of the album. Moby recorded the album in his home studio, drew the album artwork with a black sharpie on copy paper, asked his friends to record the vocals and asked another friend, photographer Jessica Dimmock, to take the press photos.
In addition, friend Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Throbbing Gristle, M83) helped mix the record. Moby and Thomas mixed the record using purely analog equipment in true stereo, akin to how records were mixed in the late 60's. As a result, the songs sound pretty amazing on headphones. The songs also sound best when listened to as a cohesive body of work. While each track stands on its own merit, ‘Wait For Me’ was recorded and arranged to be listened to from start to finish.
The album track 'Shot In The Back Of The Head' is currently available as a free MP3 download on Moby.com. Moby.com also feature's the track's video, a dark and moody animation by David Lynch.
It's fitting that Lynch directs this debut video, as it was a 2008 speech by Lynch that informed Moby's inspiration for the album.
"David was talking about creativity, and to paraphrase, about how creativity in and of itself, and without market pressures, is fine. In making this record i wanted to focus on making something that i loved, without really being concerned about how it might be received by the marketplace. As a result it's a quieter, more melodic, more mournful and more personal record than some of the records i've made in the past"
In today's single-driven music industry an album that holds together as a collective entity is a rarity. An album that holds itself to standards higher than commercial measures of success is even more rare. |

“Heavy distortion fell over the crowd like a cloud of dust, and everyone was covered; the music as impermanent and elusive as the smoke…a strobe light pulsed, arms lifted, a girl was carried towards me, her body arched at the ceiling...and all while the song swelled, revolved, and gushed.” – Beyond Race Magazine (DBA, August 19, 2010)

Andy Bell Announces "Non-Stop" Single Out 10/12 For Immediate Release
NEW SINGLE “NON-STOP”
OUT OCTOBER 12th 2010
FROM THE SOLO ALBUM, NON-STOP, OUT NOW
“For anyone looking for this summer’s new club anthem, Non-Stop delivers the goods”
– Venus Zine
“Bell delivers 10 songs packed with relentless beats and dizzying electronic accompaniment.”
– M Magazine
“This is pop, house, electro and disco-glam all combined in to one campy cup of perfection.”
– Theme Magazine
August 26, 2010 – New York, NY Andy Bell releases a new single and title track from his latest album, “Non-Stop”, out digitally on October 12th, 2010. The single features remixes from London based remix team Digital Dog (Tinchy Stryder, Britney Spears, Rihanna), plus exclusive tracks “Flying Colours” and the “Non-Stop” instrumental version. In addition, “Say What You Want” (Joy Joy Mix) by Ste Ashworth is included, which is the winning remix from a recent competition on andybell.com.
Non-Stop, co-produced and co-written by Andy Bell and Pascal Gabriel (S’Express, Debbie Harry, Kylie) is a lavish 10 track collection of exquisite dancefloor confessionals from one of the most acclaimed and beloved singers in British pop. The album features a duet with Perry Farrell (of Jane’s Addiction fame), Honey If You Love Him. Farrell, a huge fan of Andy’s voice, suggested the alliance.
Although Andy’s long-running partnership with Vince Clarke in Erasure (recipients of Best British Group at The Brit Awards) remains very much a going concern - since the release of 1986’s debut, Wonderland the duo have gone on to sell over 20 million albums, 5 of them hitting #1 and had 17 Top 10 UK singles - the singer’s second solo album provides a liberating platform for his more clubby, nocturnal, disco-glam side. He has even purposely changed his vocal register and style for much of Non-Stop, putting clear blue water between his soulfully electronic solo voice and his gleaming, poppy Erasure work.
NON-STOP TRACKLISTING
1. Non-Stop – original version
2. Non-Stop - Digital Dog Radio Edit
3. Non-Stop Digital Dog Club Edit

“Like a Mayan maze of sonic and lyrical ambiguity that pummels and cajoles...
while darting jittery glances down dank alleys.” – High Times
Liars will release a new single, Proud Evolution, as a six track EP on October 19th, 2010. The new EP features a remix from Thom Yorke, a live version recorded at Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, plus three exclusive new b-sides “Come Now”, “Total Frown”, and “Strangers”.
Liars on “Proud Evolution”: “A triumphant processional piano part is hijacked by something more lurid and tempting. The clicking and gurgling of what’s kicking. Soon a large rolling mass of bass displaces the equilibrium and redirects it into a groove. The tempting wave reminds you that misplaced confidence can be frightening.”
Liars make a long awaited return to Canada, playing Toronto and Montreal for the first time since 2006, and playing Ottawa and Hamilton for the first time ever! Having taken their critically acclaimed fifth album Sisterworld across the US, Liars head north to devastate Canada including a headline appearance at the Pop Montreal International Music Festival on September 30th. For a sneak peak at what Sisterworld looks like these days, check out Liars’ performance at La Route Du Rock festival in France on August 13th.
At this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival, Chicago Sun-Times observed “A series of owl cries and electronically distorted yowls rose and fell over guitar lines played carefully just a half xtone off where they should be, and the bass lurked and dodged in the lengthening shadows.” Time Out Chicago raved, “Art-rockers Liars took a cue from the blistering sun, delivering a set that was equally as intense as the sweltering heat beaming down from above.”
Sisterworld is out now on CD, double vinyl and 2CD version. The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega while the unique packaging for the 2CD and deluxe vinyl editions, designed by Brian Roettinger / Hand Held Heart (Grammy nominated and Rolling Stone award winning for his work with No Age) allows a surreal glimpse into Sisterworld.

"The Extraordinary Life of Jose Gonzalez" Begins Festival Circuit FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY LIFE OF JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ
BEGINS FESTIVAL CIRCUIT
DOCUMENTARY ON GONZÁLEZ SHOT OVER LAST THREE YEARS
Swedish musician José González is the subject of a new documentary called The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González, which is now starting to be shown at festivals throughout Europe. It is a beautiful, sly and radically intimate documentary about the life and mind of musician José González. The 74-minute film was directed by Mikel Cee Karisson and Fredrik Egerstrand and produced by Erik Hemmendorff for Plattform Produktion (Karisson has made videos for González as well as Fever Ray, among others). Using video diary, surveillance camera, concert footage, tour documentation and animation, directors Karlsson and Egerstrand have given form to something as elusive as the creative process of one of Sweden’s finest – and most secretive – musicians.
In the film we follow González through scenes shot during work on his second album, In Our Nature. Through a diary, based on personal voice recordings, we follow his everyday reflections from thoughts on a photon’s path from the sun to our eyes to Darwinism to the struggle to write songs. Exploring universal themes such as loneliness, boredom and isolation, The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of JoséGonzález gives us insight into one person’s attempt to manage and understand his own existence. It was shot over a three-year period on location in Sweden, Japan, Singapore, United States, South Africa, England, Chile and Argentina.
Director Karisson says: “There is something absurd, fascinating and beautiful in our attempts to find meaning in our existence. With The Extraordinary ordinary life of José González, we wanted to give form to the personal artistic process. How personal reflection and everyday fragments of life shapes our input and output.”
You can view the trailer HERE.
One of the more enigmatic and thought-provoking musicians of the last decade, González is one of Sweden’s most successful exports. He has sold almost one million records worldwide and has received accolades from the media in every country in which he has performed. On September 14, he will release Fields, the debut record from his band Junip. Formed in the late '90s by González along with drummer Elias Araya and organ and moog player Tobias Winterkorn, the early critical response to Junip has been glowing thus far. Pitchfork gave the Rope & Summit EP an 8.0 rating, saying that the music favors “simplicity and shade while retaining the uncluttered sonic arranging that so often serves as a trademark of González’s…we won’t have to wait long to hear more from Junip, and if it holds serve from Rope, the only disappointment will be that González could’ve been holding out on us for too long.”
Junip will be touring in America beginning November 1, 2010. |

Fever Ray Covers Peter Gabriel's "Mercy Street" For Immediate Release
FEVER RAY COVERS PETER GABRIEL'S “MERCY STREET”
STUDIO VERSION OF THE LIVE FAVORITE
EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE FOR 24 HOURS TODAY ON NME.com
August 19, 2010 – New York, NY - Fever Ray aka Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife has today confirmed what many suspected after a shocking, mildly terrifying (and anonymous) image - attached - appeared last week with the words “Mercy Street” upon it. Having performed spellbinding live covers of well-loved tracks by artists as varied as Nick Cave, Vashti Bunyan and Peter Gabriel, her cover of the latter's “Mercy Street” is set for release on September 14th as a digital download through Mute in the US and Canada.
If you can't wait that long, NME.com have snagged an exclusive 24-hour download of the track so grab it while you can HERE or stream the track by visiting http://soundcloud.com/fever-ray/mercy-street.
The eagled-eyed might have noticed that the image released last week - taken by Noam Griegst – noted the August 17th date. The slight delay in unveiling the truth was as a result of the issues (now fully resolved) that arise when an artist covers a track and alters or removes lyrics, as Karin has done. In her own words:
"It's an interpretation of Peter Gabriel's 'Mercy Street'. We made it more intense and faster to fit our eccentric percussionists and energetic live musicians. It is a monotone track but we worked with the dynamics trying to make it sparkle. I listened to it a lot when I was around 15, and it still moves me. It made me start reading Anne Sexton too."
For those who have yet to experience the 'Mercy Street' cover live, you can catch Fever Ray's stunning audio-visual show in Europe on the following dates:
September:
5th - Electric Picnic, Dublin, Ireland
6th - O2 ABC, Glasgow
8th - Brixton Academy, London
9th - Olympia, Paris, France
10th - Berlin Festival, Berlin, Germany
12th - Bestival, Isle of Wight
