Mute Bank
MLT
Mute Liberation Technologies, aka MLT, has now been running
since autumn 1994, as an FTP site, a Telnet site and a BBS (all no longer available)
and since spring 1995 as a web site. The current version of this web site was
launched in July 2004.
Mailing Lists
If you would like to receive free information from Mute by
email you can join our mailing lists. There are various options, including our
weekly news summary and artist or label specific lists. You can subscribe and
unsubscribe from our lists at any time by visiting the My Mute section of the
web site. For us to send information to you by email you will, of course, need
to give us your email address. We will not use this for any other purpose, or
share it with anyone else.
Promos / Review Copies
We do not have an in-house club mailing list - if you send
us full details of what you're looking for we'll try to forward your request
to the correct person.
If you are outside the UK you must contact our local licensee.
If you don't know who this is, please email your request, remembering to give
details of the country you're in.
If you are in the UK writing for a publication based outside
the UK (print or web), please send a note from your editor (or relevant authority)
vouching your accreditation and contact Mute's local representative to nominate
you to be added to the mailing list for UK based international journalists.
At the moment the list is full to capacity, but new applications will be kept
on file until the list is reviewed.
Live Dates
Mute does not actually arrange live dates or choose the countries
and cities our artists play in. The Live section of this web site lists all
live dates we are given by our artists, their agents, promoters and management.
We only list fully confirmed details, and try to include as much information
as we can. However, you should be aware that all live dates are subject to change,
and you are advised to check with the venue concerned before attending an event.
Guest Lists / Backstage Passess
Mute is unable to provide guest list places or back stage
passes for any live dates. Sorry!
Demos / A&R
Mute loves to receive your demos, so please feel free to send
them to our A&R Department for consideration at the normal Mute address:
A&R
Mute
27 Wrights Lane
London
W8 5SW
England
You do not need to mark your package for a specific
named person's attention, just "A&R", please.
Our preferred format is CD, but any other standard format
is acceptable. Please don't send too much material to begin with - 3 or
4 of your best tracks is a good start.
Unfortunately, we are not able to reply individually to everyone
who submits music to us, but we can assure you that all demos are reviewed and,
we will be in touch if we like what we hear and wish to discuss it further.
Because of the huge volume of demos we receive, it's not possible
to acknowledge receipt of submissions. If you want to make sure that your material
has been received, please send it by a registered post service.
We can NOT currently accept demos by email (MP3, WAV, AIFF
or any other attachment). Please do not submit demos in this way - they will
be automatically deleted without being heard.
Interview Requests
If you would like to request an interivew with one of our artists,
this needs to be arranged through the Mute UK press department (for UK based
journalists), outside pluggers (for UK based radio or TV) or the relevant licensee
in other countries. If you do not know how to contact the correct person, please
forward details of your request to us and we'll try to pass it on to someone
who can help.
Please note - In North America please contact Reprise
for Depeche Mode, Virgin for Dave Gahan and Epitaph/Anti for Nick Cave
and the Bad Seeds. Thanks.
Signed Items / Autographs
We're very sorry, but we're not able to help with requests
for signed items or autographs. We get a huge volume of requests every day and
it's not practical for us to arrange this.
Job Vacancies
Thank you for your interest in working at Mute. All job vacancies
are advertised on this web site and usually also in Music Week magazine and
on musicweek.com.
Please only send your CV to us if you're applying for an advertised
vacancy. Due to the high number of unsolicited CVs we receive daily we are unable
to keep these on file and will only review CVs sent in application for an advertised
post.
Work Experience
We would love to be able to assist with all requests for placements
at Mute, unfortunately we get so many applications that it just isn't possible.
Unless you see a placement advertised on this site please assume that our quota
is full for the year.
Distract
The section of this web site called Distract is a special area
where we put our 'online distractions' - stuff that doesn't really fit anywhere
else. We'll update it from time to time with new things, and you're welcome
to send us any ideas or suggestions you may have. These online distractions
are for your personal use only and are provided without warranty or guarantees.
Forums
All Mute forums (label, artist or subject specific) are not
moderated prior to posting. What this means is that your message will appear
on the forum as soon as you post it. We believe you should be free to express
whatever opinions you wish. However, we reserve all rights to edit or remove
any post without notice or explanation. We will do this, for example, if we
consider a message to be abusive or illegal. Users take full responsibility
for the messages they post, and users who persistently post messages that we
feel need to be removed will be banned from posting to all Mute forums. You
must be registered in order to post or reply to messages. Registering is a free
and simple process.
Reviews
Various sections of the web site allow you to write reviews.
These are moderated, which means that any review you write is read by an administrator,
who will be checking that it's posted in the correct section, is factually correct
and isn't copied from another source before posting it on the site. We endevour
to moderate reviews as quicky as possible, but please remember that it may take
some time for your review to appear. All reveiews are read, so please don't
submit the same review more than once.
