Bringing something of the classical avant-garde to popular music Alexander Balanescu and his Balanescu Quartet have recorded striking interpretations of the work of contemporary musicians. Their cover versions of the work of Karftwerk played entirely on string instruments, are an amazing achievement in their own right that have deservedly brought the Quartet to the attention of audiences within the spheres of both classical and popular music.
