The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega. On May 25th Liars released “The Overachievers”, the second single from Sisterworld, described by frontman Angus Andrews as “a hyper realistic portrayal of the young and unaffected living in LA.” The single also features two brand new tracks, “Pleasure Is Boss” and “Only Sometimes”, along with Devendra Banhart & The Grogs’s reinterpretation of the song.

Sisterworld has already met with extensive critical praise including an 8.1/Best New Music distinction from Pitchfork and reached #5 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart. New York Magazine says “With ‘Sisterworld, the band have found a balance, providing both exceptional standalone moments and a unifying theme.” High Times adds, "Sisterworld is like a Mayan maze of sonic and lyrical ambiguity that pummels and cajoles... while darting jittery glances down dank alleys

Sisterworld, Liars' boldest and most exhilarating record to date, is a dense art-pop thrill from start to finish. Sisterworld is Liars' own space, completely devoid of influence, somewhere remote from the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. In it Liars explore the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society. Liars are Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross.

  Goldfrapp "Believer" Out 9/7
NEW SINGLE – “BELIEVER” – SEPTEMBER 7th

UK TOUR DATES – NOVEMBER 2010

“Who knew late-‘70’s/early ‘80’s synth-pop could be so perfectly compact,
so life-affirming and seemingly effortless? – Mother Jones

“A proud raison d’être…never has the group been more in the swing of things.” – NY Daily News

Goldfrapp will release their brand new single “Believer” on September 7th through Mute. “Believer” is the latest single to be taken from Head First following the fantastic singles “Rocket” and “Alive”. “Believer” comes with a fabulous remix package including mixes by Vince Clarke, Subway, Joris Voorn and Davide Rossi.

Goldfrapp recently wrapped up a set of select US live dates in June bringing Head First to both coasts, including the iconic Hollywood Bowl. Entertainment Weekly wrote, “Alison, in full sparkle mode…lost herself in a dizzying feast of outstretched arms and those ethereal wails we know and love.” The Washington Post called the sold out show at 9:30 Club, “Glamorous, and more than a little thrilling.” Goldfrapp underlined their reputation as one of the most transcendent and inventive live bands around.

In November Goldfrapp will embark on their first major UK tour in two years. In addition, the tour announcement comes as the band takes the stage at several major festivals this summer, which include headlining a night at the iTunes Festival, as well as T in the Park, Oxegen, V and LED.

Head First is Goldfrapp's most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance. With life affirming lyrics and stellar production it lifts off at full tilt and takes us on a journey to the heart of 2010.

NON/Boyd Rice in NYC July 22nd
World Premiere of "Iconoclast" Documentary
Los Angeles - August 17th, 2010

NON (Boyd Rice) will play a rare date in New York on July 22nd at Le Poisson Rouge with support from Jet Fueled Horses and DJs David Johansen (New York Dolls) and Jonathan Toubin (New York Night Train). A 20 minute world premiere teaser trailer for Iconoclast, a documentary on Boyd Rice, will also be shown at 10.30pm sharp. Tickets are $15 and are available now.

The premiere of the documentary will take place in LA on August 17th at an event hosted by glam rock legend, Michael Des Barres and featuring a Q&A with Boyd Rice, Iconoclast’s director Larry Wessel and the celebrated director Allison Anders.

Iconoclast, directed by Larry Wessel - whose feature films include Taurobolium (1994), Sugar and Spice (1995), Carny Talk (1995) and Sex, Death and the Hollywood Mystique (1999) - features interviews from, amongst others, Adam Parfrey, Kim Fowley, Rodney Bingenheimer, Coop, Gidget Gein and Bob Larson, the shock jock evangelist, and is set for release in 2010. See a little of what to expect on YouTube.

Boyd Rice is not a man to be underestimated. Operating for over three decades under the ambiguous moniker NON, Boyd Rice is an indisputable pioneer and vehement advocate of unadulterated noise in the rock milieu.

Starting in 1975 with his so-called Black Album, followed by the glitch-addled locked groove multi-axis 7" vinyl experiment of 1978's Pagan Muzak, by the mid-70s Boyd Rice had explored the spectrum of aural irritation more rigorously than any of his contemporaries. Where others dabbled (Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music, The Plastic Ono Band, et al), Boyd Rice plumbed the utter depths.

No mere one-trick pony, Boyd Rice has delighted not only in bursting eardrums, but also bursting bubbles of smug complacency. Chameleon par excellence, his various paradoxical incarnations include multi-media prankster and legit actor, gnostic philosopher and camp culture aficionado, uncompromising Social Darwinist and louche martini-sipping raconteur, Satanist spokesman and the self-proclaimed descendant of the bloodline of Jesus Christ.

Boyd Rice’s recent remix of Liars’ “I Still Can See An Outside World” is featured on their album of reinterpretations of Sisterworld. For more information on the remix, visit: http://www.myspace.com/liarsliarsliars

Boyd Rice was my mentor” – Marilyn Manson
Boyd is an Iconoclast” – Anton LaVey, Church of Satan

PULL IN EMERGENCY

DEBUT ALBUM OUT THIS FALL

SUMMER UK DATES ANNOUNCED

‘EVERYTHING IS THE SAME’
FREE DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE NOW HERE

Pull In Emergency announce details of their self-titled debut album set for release this fall.

Produced by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor), the album sees Pull In Emergency offer up a debut album oozing human emotion. Full of love, lust, glee and anger, the ten-track collection sees the band move from a jangly indie combo into a grittier, fuzzier proposition, though their collective ear for a catchy melody is still impeccably well tuned.

“At this stage we all agree on the direction we want to follow – it’s largely based on 1990s American indie rock but with a bit of Pullinemergency-isation. It’s a style that is probably the most fun to play - and see - live and that’s a big reason for the change,” explains Frankie.

The album is an impressive mixed bag of tricks, one that’s the product of a group who are constantly evolving and consistently hitting the nail of guitar pop greatness and giddy lovestruck rock square on the head.

Featuring ‘Everything Is The Same’, currently available HERE as a free download, (and from the band's site http://www.pullinemergency.wordpress.com) the track is already garnering airplay in the UK from Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe and John Kennedy, and Pull In Emergency have sessions in the UK under their belt for Huw Stephens (R1) and John Kennedy (Xfm).

Pull In Emergency - Faith Barker (Lead Vocals), Alice Costelloe (Guitar / Keys / Backing Vocals), Dylan Holmes (Bass / Vocals), Frankie Bowmaker (Lead Guitar) and Suneet Chohan (Drums) – formed in 2006 at school in North London and released several singles on the Mute Irregulars label including the single ‘Follow / Why Aren’t You Dancing?’

It’s not just on record that Pull In Emergency impress, they’ve more than paid their dues on the touring circuit over the years and this summer sees a string of dates including the 1234 Festival in Shoreditch, London on July 24th.

UK LIVE DATES:

“Working their way up to art rock legacy” – Rolling Stone

“If I ever manage to lose my mind entirely, I hope the voices in my head sound something like this band.” 8.1 – Pitchfork

“Bands that do what they want to do because they believe in it – and trust the intelligence of their listeners – are the future. That is the brave new world of Liars”
– Los Angeles Times

Liars recently filmed an exclusive performance for Pitchfork TV’s ‘Surveillance’ series. Watch the band rock and rattle an abandoned prison with tracks from their new album, Sisterworld, including “Scissor”, “Proud Evolution”, and “Scarecrows On A Killer Slant”. Watch it HERE.

Liars will begin a 2nd string of tour dates in July. This tour sees Liars hitting the middle states and is marked by their special appearances at Brooklyn’s Northside Festival on June 26th and the Pitchfork Festival on July 16th. At the Brooklyn Northside Festival, Liars will be performing on the MetroPCS Stage at Barge Park, marking the first ever outdoor performance on the Greenpoint Waterfront.

Watching Liars live, Pitchfork said, “It's tough to overstate Andrew's abilities as a frontman…Andrew uses every bit of his big frame to convey a constant evil insanity. But there's still a strong sense of control to what he and his band do onstage. If I ever manage to lose my mind entirely, I hope the voices in my head sound something like this band.” August Brown of the Los Angeles Times writes “Angus Andrew is a stringy-haired, gravel-voiced prophet of doom…He trawls the stage… it’s clear he’s having the time of his life up there”, while Rolling Stone proclaims they are “Working their way up to art rock legacy.”

On May 25th Liars released “The Overachievers”, the second single from their current album Sisterworld. Liars’ frontman, Angus Andrews, says the track is, “a hyper realistic portrayal of the young and unaffected living in LA.” Part parody - part homage, it’s one of the most lyrically direct tracks from an album that explores the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society and the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. The single features two brand new tracks, “Pleasure Is Boss” and “Only Sometimes”, plus Devendra Banhart & The Grogs’s reinterpretation of the song. The video for “The Overachievers” is directed by Liars’ very own Aaron Hemphill and debuted on thesisterworld.com

Sisterworld, the band’s critically acclaimed fifth album is out now on CD, 2CD deluxe version with special packaging, and vinyl. The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega while the unique packaging, designed by Brian Roettinger / Hand Held Heart (Grammy nominated and Rolling Stone award winning for his work with No Age) allows a surreal glimpse into the Sisterworld concertina.

Sisterworld has already met with extensive critical praise including an 8.1/Best New Music distinction from Pitchfork and reached #5 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart. New York Magazine says “With ‘Sisterworld, the band have found a balance, providing both exceptional standalone moments and a unifying theme.”

  Yazoo - Reconnected Live
Yazoo release Reconnected Live on 2xCD, LCD and download on 27th September 2010.

Reconnected Live documents one of pop's most anticipated tours: Vince Clarke & Alison Moyet reunited for the first time in over 25 years. The Times said: "Clarke has unobtrusively retooled the band's music for the digital age, making their vintage 1980s synthesizer ditties sound crisp, fluid and timeless", while The Guardian noted, "Yazoo's first tour in 26 years finds the chemistry behind their smash hits unchanged.

Reconnected Live, from summer 2008, features classic tracks from Yazoo's albums 'Upstairs At Eric's' and 'You And Me Both', including Only You, Don't Go and Situation plus tracks from 'You And Me Both', such as Nobody's Diary, performed live for the first time ever.

The joyous, unlikely coming together of Vince Clarke, who had just left Depeche Mode, and Alison Moyet lasted for only 2 albums, saw them originally only performing only 24 concerts worldwide, but they left an indelible mark on pop. Yazoo released 'Upstairs At Eric's' in July 1982 then parted company just 12 months later on release of the second album 'You And Me Both', which reached Number 1 in the UK.

Speaking prior to the Reconnected tour, Vince Clarke said: "It's been really good going back to these songs after such a long while. Many of them have never been played live. I'm looking forward to performing them with Alison for all the fans who've enjoyed our music through the years but never had a chance to see Yazoo in concert."

And Alison Moyet said: "Playing this material live is not about revision for me, it is about finishing something we started - writing, recording, performing. Three parts of a whole. A salmon cycle. It's like going home."

Goldfrapp "Alive" Single Out 6/8 + Video Premiere on Vevo
NEW SINGLE “ALIVE” OUT JUNE 8th 2010
“ALIVE” VIDEO PREMIERS ON VEVO.COM MAY 20TH 2010
JUNE TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

JUNE 21 WASHINGTON, DC – 9:30 CLUB
JUNE 23 NEW YORK, NY – HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM
JUNE 26 OAKLAND, CA – FOX THEATER
JUNE 27 LOS ANGELES, CA – HOLLYWOOD BOWL

“The band has returned full force” - Rolling Stone

“Pitch perfect” 8/10 - Spin

“A heady delight” - People

British pop pioneers Goldfrapp release their brand new single “Alive” through Mute on June 8th 2010.

A joyous summer rush of anthemic escapism, “Alive”, written and produced by band mates Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, follows “Rocket” as the second single to be taken from the duo’s fifth album Head First, which Rolling Stone described as “Absorbing the ethereal atmosphere of Giorgio Moroder’s Cat People soundtrack and the skeletal fuzz-bluster of Suicide’s 1977 melancholy synth-punk blueprint “Cheree”, Head First has an edge that’s softer, warmer and dreamier...”

The single, with mixes by Joakim, Tensnake, Dave Audé, and Arno Cost, is accompanied by a new video directed by the creative studio, Legs. In the video Pitchfork calls “genius”, watch an enchanting Alison Goldfrapp captivate the underworld with spandex-clad sidekicks. The video for “Alive” premiered on Vevo’s homepage on May 20th 2010. Watch it HERE.

Goldfrapp will take Head First to select US cities this summer - following the massive acclaim for both the Supernature and Seventh Tree tours and festival appearances around the world, Goldfrapp have underlined their reputation as one of the most transcendent and inventive live bands around.

Head First is Goldfrapp's most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance. With life affirming lyrics and stellar production it lifts off at full tilt and takes us on a journey to the heart of 2010.

The diversity, ambition and direction of the new album continues to highlight Goldfrapp as true agenda-setters and modern British musical icons. Head First follows the critically acclaimed Seventh Tree, and is the latest in a brilliantly consistent body of work - from the captivating electronic balladry of Mercury nominated debut Felt Mountain and its distorted-dancefloor follow-up, Black Cherry to the glitterball glamour of Supernature which came out in summer 2005 and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide.

“Alive” track list:

1. Alive (Album Version)
2. Alive (Joakim NRG Dub)
3. Alive (Tensnake Remix)
4. Alive (Dave Audé Club Dub)
5. Alive (Arno Cost Remix)

  Irmin Schmidt - Ludwigsburger Schloßfestpiele
31st July 2010

The classical music festival hosted at Ludwigsburg Castle (Ludwigsburger Schloßfestpiele, near Stuttgart, Germany) will dedicate its closing Gala performance to the music of Irmin Schmidt, founder of the legendary German avant-garde rock group Can, with a focus on his work for film.

The concert will be conducted by Irmin Schmidt, with a variety of solo artists performing with the Orchestra Schloßfestpiele Ludwigsburg including Markus Stockhausen (Trumpet), Gerd Dudek (Saxophone), Christiane Oxenfort (flutes), Ingrid Oberkanins (percussion), Kumo (electronics) plus Greg Cohen and Eyvind Kang who are currently transcribing a selection of Schmidt's work for orchestra.

The laudatio will be held by Wim Wenders. Schmidt composed the score for his film Palermo Shooting (2008).

In addition to the orchestral concert, Irmin Schmidt will also perform a selection of his work with Kumo from their albums Masters Of Confusion and Axolotl Eyes.

Preceding the festival, Schmidt is holding a workshop at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy. The Filmmusikklasse der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg will orchestrate and arrange Can's Spoon which will be performed at the Gala alongside a version by Cohen and Kang.

A selection of films with Schmidt's and Can's film music will also be shown at the festival.

Liars Join Beck for Record Club 4
The Overachievers - New Single out 24th May

Liars joined Beck, Annie Clark and Daniel Hart from St Vincent, Sergio Dias from legendary Brazilian band Os Mutantes and Brian Lebarton for Beck's Record Club 4, covering the 1987 album, Kick by INXS.

Beck's Record Club is an "informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day". The results are posted, track by track at www.beck.com/recordclub.

Angus, talking about Beck's Record Club said, "Iit is a rare opportunity for completely selfless collaboration and an extremely interesting and unique project that was an absolute pleasure to participate in."

Says Beck, "It was recorded in a little over 12 hours on March 3rd, 2010. It was an intense, hilarious, daunting and completely fun undertaking. Thanks to everybody for being there and putting so much into it. Many classic moments, inspired performances and occasional anarchy."

Liars release a brand new single, The Overachievers, on 24th May, coinciding with a series of UK dates that includes Shepherd's Bush Empire on 27th May.

Backed with two brand new tracks, Pleasure Is Boss and Only Sometimes plus Devendra Banhart and The Grogs's reinterpretation of the single, The Overachievers is taken from Sisterworld, the band's critically acclaimed fifth album. NME said "...this incredible album is your passport to a better place" and Uncut described it as "impressive... focused and relevant."

Sisterworld is out now on CD, 2CD version with very special packaging and on a deluxe vinyl edition double 180gram heavy vinyl and CD with two booklets.

The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld remixed and reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, Fol Chen and Alan Vega while the unique packaging, designed by Brian Roettinger / Hand Held Heart (Grammy nominated and Rolling Stone award winning for his work with No Age) allows a surreal glimpse into the Sisterworld concertina.

  NIKKI SUDDEN 1956-2006
Nikki Sudden passed away on Sunday 26 March, in his sleep, after playing his final show, at the Knitting Factory in New York. He died too soon, and will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

The inspired, incendiary and inspirational music he made as Swell Maps with his brother Epic Soundtracks would alone be a remarkable legacy to leave behind. But Nikki embarked on a prolific career, as a solo artist and with his band, The Jacobites, recording a significant body of work and playing over 100 live shows in a typical year. At the time of his death Nikki had recently completed his tenth solo album and was working on various writing projects.
