Moby iTunes Live from Montreal Out Now! Launches Video Competition

While in the midst of an extensive critically acclaimed US tour in Fall 2009, Moby recorded an intimate live performance at the Montreal iTunes store to a captivated audience. 'Moby iTunes Live from Montreal' becomes available around the world at iTunes this week (March 2 in North America and March 1 in the UK, and Internationally).
For this special recording Moby performed tracks from his most recent album 'Wait For Me,' as well as some other classics from previous albums, with a rare �E~stripped back�E~ set consisting of just guitar, piano, violin and vocals. Joining him for this incredible and unique performance were the very talented lead vocalists from his tour - Kelli Scarr and Inyang Bassey. Moby joins an exciting and diverse list of artists that have participated in this iTunes global signature music series which features sessions recorded at Apple stores in London, New York, Tokyo, Montreal, Sydney and Munich.
Also in Moby news�E�the latest video from his album 'Wait For Me' is now premiered on moby.com - it is for the title track and you can watch it here: wait for me by jessica dimmock. Like all the videos for this album, it was made by one of Moby's friends. He gave her complete creative control to do whatever she wanted to do - the result is an amazing and honest short film. Jessica Dimmock is a documentary photographer from NYC who took the press shots for the �E~Wait For Me�E(tm) campaign.
Further to this, Moby has launched a competition on mobygratis.com in association with Genero.tv, where users can win $5000 to make their own video for this track. The tracks features lead singer Stephen Patterson's rasping vocals and a haunting yet driving bassline. The single comes backed with Rudie Fails, recorded live in London.

Liars will debut material from their forthcoming album Sisterworld at SXSW 2010! The band will debut their live show March 18th, 2010 at the Insound party at Club Deville (set time: 4pm). Liars are set to headline the Billions showcase the following night, Friday March 19th, 2010 (set time: 1am). The trio �E" Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross, will be performing as a five piece at SXSW and their forthcoming US tour.

�EoeSisterworld has many more voices and instruments than Liars have hands or mouths so we've decided to involve two very skilled musicians, Samuel Bing and Alex Myrvold both of the band Fol Chen, for the live reincarnation of the album. Samuel Bing played with us on the Radiohead tour and Alex Myrvold played with us at Coachella. As a 5-piece we have the opportunity to justly represent our new material and also to redefine how our older material is put together. It�E(tm)s about expanding our sonic palette so there are no restrictions to what ground we can cover on-stage�E� Says Liars�E(tm) Angus Andrew.

Sisterworld is set for release March 9th, 2010 on CD, vinyl and a 2CD deluxe version. The deluxe version includes track reinterpretations by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart and Alan Vega and more. The unique packaging, designed by Brian Roettinger allows a surreal glimpse into the Sisterworld concertina. �EoeScissor�E�, the first single from Sisterworld, is available now. It includes the B-side Covenant Heart. There is also an iTunes exclusive track Manslaughter Oops.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Mute announce the next installment in a series of releases that will ultimately see the band�E(tm)s entire studio album catalogue digitally re-mastered and remixed for 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time since their original release. Tender Prey, The Good Son and Henry's Dream (their fifth, sixth and seventh albums) will come out March 30th, 2010, each as a separate deluxe double-disc collectors edition.

Each deluxe edition contains the re-mastered stereo album, the new surround mix, a specially commissioned short film by UK artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard plus the b-sides from the singles, videos and exclusive sleeve notes.

Liars Reveal The Full Tracklisting For "Sisterworld" Deluxe Version

Liars have confirmed the tracklisting and artwork for the 2CD version of their eagerly anticipated new album, Sisterworld, out March 9th, 2010 on CD, vinyl and a 2CD version with very special packaging.

The second disc of the 2CD release sees each track on Sisterworld reinterpreted by a host of artists including Thom Yorke, Devendra Banhart and Alan Vega (full tracklisting below) while the unique packaging allows a surreal glimpse into the Sisterworld concertina (visit http://thesisterworld.com/visualaid.html for a Sisterworld packaging visual aid).

Sisterworld, Liars�E(tm) boldest and most exhilarating record to date, is a dense art-pop thrill from start to finish and features the new single, Scissor, described by the NME as �Eoea feral thriller�E� and released on February 16th. Recoil - A Strange Hour with Alan Wilder and Paul Kendall - Event Tour

Recoil Selected, a brand new selection of classic Recoil tracks will be released on 19 April 2010. The track listing has been chosen by Alan Wilder who explains: "The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience.�E�

Recoil Selected will be available as a single CD and double pack CD. The double CD features a second disc including many new remixes and alternative versions, chosen and edited together by Alan Wilder and Paul Kendall, who has worked with Wilder for the past 10 years. The album features a varied selection of vocalists including Diamanda Galás, Joe Richardson, Douglas McCarthy, Samantha Coerbell, Toni Halliday and Maggie Estep.

Goldfrapp Release New Single 'Rocket' in March

Musical pioneers Goldfrapp announce their brand new single �E~Rocket�E(tm), to be released through Mute March 8th (UK) / 9th (US) 2010. Fizzy with inspiration, �E~Rocket�E(tm) is a goose-bump brilliant tune and is taken from the duo�E(tm)s fifth album �E~Head First�E(tm), released in March.

�E~Rocket�E~ is written and produced by band mates Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and comes complete with new mixes by Richard X, Penguin Prison and Grum, and Tiësto, and is accompanied by a fabulous video directed by Kim Gehrig (Calvin Harris, Primal Scream, Santogold).

Meanwhile �E~Head First' is Goldfrapp's most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance. With life affirming lyrics and stellar production it lifts off at full tilt and takes us on a journey to the heart of 2010.

Fever Ray is the title of both the project and album. Buzzcocks and Mute will release the original Buzzcocks�E(tm) albums, Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites, and A Different Kind of Tension from 1978 and 1979 February 9, 2010. The reissues will also feature previously unreleased tracks, John Peel sessions, associated singles, demos, backing tracks, and live versions.

Buzzcocks�E(tm) first album, Another Music in a Different Kitchen - a major punk landmark and a great record to boot - was released almost exactly thirty years ago. It�E(tm)s full of fire, wit, speed, philosophical lyrics and gender explorations, as well the sly psychedelia that always made Buzzcocks stand out from the pack. This disc contains the full Another Music in a Different Kitchen album with the relevant John Peel session and another disc of various out-takes and the full live show recorded at the Electric Circus in October 1977: the venue�E(tm)s last night and the moment when Buzzcocks began to go national.

Love Bites is the second disc covering the associated singles: �EoeLove You More�E� and �EoePromises�E�, and two Peel sessions as well as thirteen demos from summer 1978. As an added bonus, there is the full concert from the Lesser Free Trade Hall in June 1978, an exercise in instant nostalgia filmed by Granada TV under the guidance of Tony Wilson. Love Bites came at a troubled period for the group and the culture that had formed them. After the demise of the Rotten Sex Pistols in January 1978, Punk was seen as over. Buzzcocks were in danger of becoming yesterday�E(tm)s future. But 1978 was an extraordinary year for the group. They released two albums, five singles �E" with two in the UK top twenty �E" and toured relentlessly.

This new edition of A Different Kind of Tension pulls together all the associated singles �E" five of them, including Parts 1�E"3 recorded with Martin Hannett and later collected on an American mini-album �E" as well as the last track the group recorded in their first incarnation: �EoeI Look Alone�E�. As an added bonus, there is a whole disc of demos from the period, including several hard to find songs like �EoeThe Drive System�E�, �EoeJesus Made Me Feel Guilty�E�, and Paddy Garvey�E(tm)s heart-rending �EoeRun Away From Home�E�. The set is rounded off with four BBC recordings from the period, including an early outing for �EoeEverybody�E(tm)s Happy Nowadays�E�. This key song set the tone for this much-misunderstood period in Buzzcocks�E(tm) history.

The Knife, in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, are to release the studio version of the opera �E~Tomorrow, In A Year�E(tm), will be in stores March 9, 2010. The album will be released on digital download sites February 2, 2010.
Commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to write the music for their opera based on Charles Darwin and his book �E~On the Origin of the Species�E(tm), The Knife decided to make this a collaborative process, working with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for the first time, to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme. They extensively researched Darwin related literature and articles, with Olof attending a field recording workshop in the Amazon to find inspiration and to record sounds.
�E~Tomorrow, In A Year�E(tm) is a unique musical project. Richard Dawkins�E(tm)s gene trees have formed the basis of some of the musical composition, artificial sounds have been mixed with field recordings, with the music inspired by everything from the different stages of a bird learning its melody, to a song based on Darwin�E(tm)s loving letters about his daughter Anne. These are compositions that challenge the conventional conception of opera music.
Pushing the experimental process further still, composer, choreographer, costume designer and set designer worked separately, only coming together 3 and a half months before the first performance of �E~Tomorrow, In A Year�E(tm) in Copenhagen on the 2nd September 2009. Described as �Eoeshifting the position of operartic art in a single leap�E�, further performances of �E~Tomorrow, In A Year�E(tm) are confirmed to take place in Athens (8-9 Jan), Stockholm (29 Jan-1 Feb), and Munster (5 June), with further dates to be announced.
Olof Dreijer says: �EoeAt first it was very difficult as we really didn�E(tm)t know anything about opera. We�E(tm)d never been to one. I didn�E(tm)t even know what the word libretto meant. But after some studying, and just getting used to opera�E(tm)s essence of pretentious and dramatic gestures, I found that there is a lot to learn and play with. In fact, our ignorance gave us a positive respectless approach to making opera. It took me about a year to become emotionally moved by an opera singer and now I really do. I really like the basic theatrical values of opera and the easy way it brings forward a narrative. We�E(tm)ve approached this before in The Knife but never in such a clear way.�E�

Liars announce details of an expanded edition of their eagerly awaited fifth studio album, Sisterworld, out on March 9th 2010. This version comes with a second CD of remixes and reinterpretations of all 11 tracks on Sisterworld from artists including Thom Yorke, Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter / Atlas Sound), Melvins, Devendra Banhart, Alan Vega (Suicide), Chris & Cosey (Throbbing Gristle) and Blonde Redhead.

Liars also announce a string od North American tour dates in support of Sisterworld. The tour sees fellow LA band Fol Chen supporting Liars on all dates. The first single from Sisterworld, Scissor will be released as a digital single February 16th, 2010.

Sisterworld is Liars boldest and most exhilarating record to date. The album was written and recorded in Los Angeles by Liars and Tom Biller and is an invigorating summation of their career so far. Building on the back-to-basics approach employed by previous album, Liars (2007), Sisterworld is a dense art-pop thrill from start to finish.

Sisterworld is Liars�E(tm) own space, completely devoid of influence, somewhere
remote from the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. In it Liars explore the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society.

Rowland S. Howard 1959-2009

We are deeply saddened today by the passing of our friend Rowland S. Howard.

He leaves behind a vast musical legacy, which we are proud to have been a part of, but right now our thoughts are with his family and many friends throughout the world.

Nick Cave said: "This is very sad news. Rowland was Australia's most unique, gifted and uncompromising guitarist. He was also a good friend. He will be missed by many."

NIKKI SUDDEN 1956-2006

Nikki Sudden passed away on Sunday 26 March, in his sleep, after playing his final show, at the Knitting Factory in New York. He died too soon, and will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

The inspired, incendiary and inspirational music he made as Swell Maps with his brother Epic Soundtracks would alone be a remarkable legacy to leave behind. But Nikki embarked on a prolific career, as a solo artist and with his band, The Jacobites, recording a significant body of work and playing over 100 live shows in a typical year. At the time of his death Nikki had recently completed his tenth solo album and was working on various writing projects.
