MOTOR is Mr. No and Bryan Black and "Stuka Stunt" / "Jünker" is the pair's second single release under their Motor guise.
MOTOR is totally un-compromised music that deliberately breaks any musical
restrictions or sound barriers. Electronic music practising a punk ethnic, MOTOR
is unlike anything else: abrasive, strangely melodic, pulsing like a machine.
A sound, which by no mistake, has put them in a class of their own.
Mr. No comes from the industrial wastelands of Paris, and Bryan Black from
Minneapolis. Now based in London, the duo formed as MOTOR in 2003, meeting by
chance in a smoky Camden underworld where Mr. No was playing drums and Bryan
watching in awe.
Bryan Black was seminal pop star Prince's sound designer and programmer at
Paisley Park Studios in the late 90s before setting off to London to pursue
his own musical projects whilst Mr. No arrived in London in 1989 with a mission
to turn drummers into drum machines.
With DJ support from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Tiga, Felix Da Housecat
and Mute's own Daniel Miller for their first 12" release on novamute '0503',
the A side 'Din 9' has subsequently been re-worked by Arthur Baker and Princess
Superstar for her new album out this summer on K7! Records. The duo have since
gone on to remix the likes of Marilyn Manson "Personal Jesus", Throbbing
Gristle "Persuasion"
and Client "Pornography"
featuring Carl Barat from The Libertines. The hype even hit as far as Japan,
where MOTOR were commissioned to remix the theme song for the final Godzilla
film, "Final Wars".
The MOTOR duo are also known for their work under the alias "XLOVER"
who have an album coming up shortly on Hell's esteemed Gigolo Records and their
multiple collaborations with Felix Da Housecat, including co-writing tracks
off his latest LP "Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever".
The new follow up single, "Stuka Stunt", is a modern-day war-theme,
complete with Morse Code and side winding jet engines, coming on like the Luftwaffe
nose-diving out of your speakers with its 'whistling death' bomb sound effects
and heavy electronic drum patterns. (Motor have already advised ENT admissions
that on release date the surgeries will be oversubscribed…) 'Jünker'
is a cunning and explosive tale of the 'jünker', a man who is a total waster.
Drawn from MOTOR's experience of catastrophic recording sessions. Make no mistake,
Motor are behind the wheel.
