Mute/Blast First continue their critically acclaimed reissues of the legendary Suicide's groundbreaking back catalogue with the re-release of their seminal third and fourth albums; A Way Of Life and Why Be Blue? (originally released in 1988 and 1992, respectively). Each CD is coupled with a second disc, featuring two previously unreleased incendiary live performances by the group in Europe; both recorded during the late 1980's.A Way Of Life was recorded in the fashion of a live album and the result is a timeless masterwork that possesses a raw, confrontational edge, similar to Suicide's first album. The relentless, grinding 'Wild In Blue' is a hypnotic vision of the planet on the verge of collapse and sets the tone for much of A Way Of Life. The compelling 'Rain Of Ruin' and 'Devastation' seem to convey visions of both environmental and personal catastrophe. The trance-like 'Sufferin' In Vain' is a heartfelt transcendental plea for survival against overwhelming odds, a recurrent theme within much of Suicide's work. However, A Way Of Life does contain light in the tec-noir darkness. 'Jukebox baby 96' remodels Alan Vega's 1980 French Top Ten solo hit 'Jukebox Baby' as thrilling Futurist rockabilly; 50's Rock 'n' Roll for the 21st century. 'Surrender', originally released as a 12 inch single from A Way Of Life, is the greatest song that Elvis never lived to sing. A beautiful post modern Do Wop love song, 'Surrender' is the most tender songs Suicide have yet recorded and in a parallel universe it was an international smash hit.A Way Of Life's accompanying live disc is a challenging encounter between the band and their audience at the Town and Country Club, London, 13th December 1987. It features no holds barred renditions of A Way Of Life's 'Dominic Christ', 'Devastation', 'Jukebox Baby 96' and the gut wrenching 'Harlem' from their second LP.
