Goldfrapp (Alison Goldfrapp & Will Gregory) are about filling a void in pop music's soul, bringing back romance and danger and the power of vivid dreaming: "We enjoy fusing traditional song structures with cruder and more abstract elements usually reserved for experimental soundtracks. We get excited by the tension between a sweet violin and a saw-toothed synth solo," they say. Sometimes the euphoria of their collaboration is palpable: "For instance, we wrote 'Lovely Head' - the debut single - out in Bath at the end of September, when it was still really warm. We just stuck the mic outside in the garden, got drunk and sang it outside, looking at the sky. It was recorded on a real high note, right out in the sticks."
